Labor Markets and Technological Change: Evidence from Electronic Health Records
This paper examines how electronic health record (EHR) adoption in U.S. hospitals affects physician behavior. I find that EHRs increase hospitalists’ likelihood of leaving clinical work or shifting to office settings, while those who remain in hospitals see more patients, highlighting trade-offs in technology adoption.
Beyond Mergers: Informal Governance Ties in U.S. Hospitals
This paper investigates non-merger affiliations among U.S. nonprofit hospitals by measuring leadership overlap through shared directors or executives. While local overlap does not affect patient volumes or capital purchases, it is followed by increases in service offerings and operating expenses, suggesting strategic expansion and highlighting governance ties as potential early signals of consolidation.
Profit Pressures in Nonprofit Care: Executive Responses to Financial Incentives in Hospitals
I study how executive backgrounds influence hospital responses to pay-for-performance incentives. Hospitals led by non-clinical executives react more strongly to quality-based financial incentives than those led by clinically trained leaders, underscoring the role of managerial expertise in shaping organizational behavior.

Job Market Materials - 2024/2025
My name is Hanna Glenn; I graduated from Emory University with a PhD in Economics in 2025. This repository contains everything from my job market journey… advice, materials, timing, thoughts, feelings. Everyone’s job market is unique, so this isn’t meant to be the only resource you need. But I remember approaching the job market and still not grasping what it would actually be like, so I’m happy to share as much detail as I can. I applied to every job that I was qualified for (almost 300 applications submitted), and I got interviews for diverse positions in research, government, liberal arts institutions, research institutions, postdocs, and private industry. However, most of my experience is centered around academic positions, especially for interviews and flyouts.
